Simon Van Booy is a highly acclaimed author of literature for adults, and Flashlight Press is thrilled to bring you his first children’s picture book, Pobble’s Way, illustrated by Wendy Edelson. Simon wrote The Secret Lives of People in Love and Love Begins in Winter — which won the International Frank O’Connor Prize in 2009. He is also the editor of three Harper Perennial philosophy books entitled Why We Fight, Why We Need Love, and Why Our Decisions Don’t Matter. His essays have been published in newspapers such as The New York Times, The Daily Telegraph, and The Times (London), and his first novel, Everything Beautiful Begins After (Harper Perennial), will be released in the summer of 2011. Born in London and raised in rural Wales and Oxford, Simon now lives in New York City where he lectures at the School of Visual Arts and Long Island University. He is also involved in the Bard College Access Program for at-risk young adults and the Rutgers Early College Humanities program (REaCH) for young adults living in under-served communities.
