KidLit Grove takes a closer look at Set Sail for School and My Monster Alphabet Coloring Book—and highlights just how much potential these books have for learning, creativity, and hands-on play. 🏴‍☠️ Set Sail for School: "I especially love that there’s a variety of springboards with rhyming and word play, sequencing opportunities, and creative expression with arts and crafts. I couldn’t help but think of the STEM possibilities with building pirate ships, or different styles of schools." 👾 My Monster Alphabet Coloring Book: "It was fun guessing what each letter stood for with my preschooler. The book introduces some new vocabulary in a playful context, with letters connected to words like Q for quills, D for drool, and V for vanish. They included it their list of children's books celebrating environmentalism. Plastic-free July is a movement that aims to encourage people across the world to take on a more environmentalist approach to their lifestyle. "The true mastery of this book lies within the ability to take a topic that can be so complex and upsetting, and explain it in a way children can really understand, without hiding the truth from them. The book teaches children that they can make an impact on the effects of plastic pollution on the world.
